About Nicola

One of my interests is meteorology and severe weather watching, including hurricane tracking.

I am a 33 year old recent graduate who spent ten years working in the printing industry before returning to study interactive media at university. I have recently begun to work as a freelance web designer/developer and I am currently based in Salisbury, Wiltshire.

I have found that my background in a pre-press enviroment and technical knowledge of print processes have been extremely useful when transferring to interactive media, especially working to deadlines. I have good logic and problem solving skills, useful in hand coding and knowledge of interactive media processes and project management skills. I am very interested in providing accessible web sites that follow the web standards guidelines found at the W3C website. (www.w3.org).

I have learnt many different software packages including Flash, Actionscript, Dreamweaver, HTML and CSS, PHP and mySQL, as well as the printing industry standard software such as Quark, Photoshop and Freehand. When I build websites I prefer to hand code, writing clean HTML and CSS.
